As specified by DoT, the rating of tourism facilities would be carried out on the scale of A to E with modifiers as (+) or (-) to reflect comparative standing within the category.

| B2K B | Adequate Quality of Facility |
| B2K C | Moderate Quality of Facility |
| B2K D | Average Quality of Facility |
| B2K E | Low Quality of Facility |
The rating would be prefixed by the abbreviation KA – KA stands for Karnataka.
For example, a rating of “B2K-KA-A+” indicates “Highest Quality of Facility”
