Padma Shri Late Dr Bal Swarup Choubey was a visionary who realized the need for a super-speciality renal hospital in his hometown Nagpur in Maharashtra, to cater to the thousands of people suffering from kidney-related ailments. While he could not see his dream come true, his son Dr Sameer Chaubey set up the state-of-the-art 50-bedded Asian Kidney Hospital and Medical Centre (www.asiankidney.com), which boasts top-class facilities and medical experts in the memory of this father.

Soon after obtaining his MBBS degree from the Government Medical College in Nagpur, Dr Bal Swarup Choubey served as the Head of the Department of Medicine of Government Medical College, Nagpur, for ten years and later served as the Dean of the college for ten years. He was a member of the Institute Body of AIIMS for five years and served as an International Advisor to the Royal College of Physicians, London (from the Asia Pacific Region).

Inspired by his father’s vision, Dr Sameer Chaubey set up the Asian Kidney Hospital and Medical Center. Today Dr Sameer Choubey is the Chairman and Managing Director of his dream project, dedicated to providing the best treatment available to numerous needy and poor patients. At the same time, the facility is nurturing medical students, many of whom are now carrying the name of their illustrious teachers in various countries across the world.

According to Dr Sameer Chaubey, the idea of establishing the Asian Kidney Hospital and Medical Centre germinated after seeing the ever-growing numbers of kidney disease patients in Nagpur and surrounding areas. Most of these patients could not afford treatment for these dreaded diseases. Today, they do not have to travel to Mumbai, Chennai, or New Delhi for their treatment, as all their requirements are met by the Asian Kidney Hospital and Medical Centre.

Presently, the hospital boasts a 26-bedded hemodialysis unit, equipped with all ICU facilities and isolation dialysis facilities for infected patients, on the latest computerised hemodialysis machines. The facility has three spacious operation theatres, including two twin theatres for kidney transplants. The ICU is a 20-bedded spacious room with a separate surgical ICU having transplant recovery isolation rooms, with the best in-line monitors, ventilators, and other machines. The private rooms are luxurious, well equipped with monitors, central oxygen, suction, and all modern amenities.
