‘Skills And You’ Consultants - Empowering Teachers to Empower Students

Teachers play a pivotal role in a child's life, and therefore a well-trained and empowered teacher ensures the holistic development of the children. Providing the right skills and modules can turn kids from educated youth into decision-makers of tomorrow. Today, learning methodologies have changed from rote learning to experiential learning through live models and group activities.

With this concept, ‘Skills and You’ Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (SAY) (www.skillsandyou.com) was founded by young and dynamic Charu Bajaj in 2015. It is a National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) certified educational enterprise which aims at imparting experiential learning among kids by empowering teachers with 21st- century skills. Charu Bajaj holds 20 years of expertise in teacher training and curriculum training. While working as a trainer, she realized an immense gap in teaching methodologies. She proposed her concept to the NSDC. Approval of the idea formed, SAY, an educational enterprise, offering many educational programs based on experiential and inquiry-based learning philosophy for schools, teachers, and students.

The enterprise has impacted over 2.5 lakh children and over 50,000 teachers through various educational projects such as

• Government projects

Elaborating on the concept of SAY, she said, the program endeavors to achieve 21st-century skills of creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration. The pandemic led the teachers to get acquainted with technological tools leading to collaborative and cooperative methods of learning. The blended models established healthy home and school connections. Technology is an enabler in the way we look at education. This also resonates with the National Education Policy 2020, said Charu Bajaj.

The firm has a presence across India with over 500 schools, and government projects and impacted 3131+ learners through digitized learning, Curio App. The firm is looking forward to international expansion in the coming future. When asked, what she thinks about being a woman entrepreneur, she responded, I don’t think the journey of an entrepreneur depends on gender. People who try to work upon an idea have their struggles, including finances, resources, acceptance by the market, sustainability, and expansion, etc. But having said that, as a woman, of course, we have our other family duties and limitations in terms of travel to various locations. It requires grit and courage to take the challenges and flip limitations into opportunities has always been the case with me.
