The business of construction materials has had its own ups and downs recently with COVID-19 impacting almost all industries. Meanwhile, using the situation to their advantage, two business partners working for the steel industry for the last 15 years changed their business model with the introduction of something new for their company.
Advantage in disadvantage
Mr Munish Singla and Mr Rajiv Singla have been running the Kundlas Loh Udyog, a partnership firm since April 2006. The firm, with its registered office and manufacturing unit in Solan, was initially engaged in the manufacturing of steel billets and ingots, which worked fine but was not giving a boost to the business.
In 2020, the year that is known to cause a downfall in most businesses, the Singla partners decided to do something new. They started manufacturing TMT bars which play a major role in the construction of buildings. Surprisingly since then, there has been no looking back! The kind of growth the company has seen is so massive with the bars alone that they even discontinued the manufacture of billets and ingots from November 2020 onwards.
The firm now caters to large-scale distribution for massive orders in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. They have 600 full-time employees and supply steel bars to traders like Vishal Iron Store, Ganpati Steel Strips and Goyal Trading Co. Kundlas Loh Udyog is a clear example of how calculated risks can sometimes prove extremely beneficial for your business!
